Hello and welcome to my little patch of the internet.
My name is Alex and I am the proud, if slightly exhausted mother of two beautiful girls aged 22 months and 5 months. I have a fur baby (cat) called ‘Rosie,’ a pet spoon called ‘Swiggle’ and a pet rock who sadly doesn’t have a name yet. I also have a wonderful partner who goes by the name of ‘Callum.’ As I was writing my first draft of this post they were shouting “BEEEES,” at each other. Drives me bananas but I think a major part of life is loving people despite their weirdness and somehow being crazy enough to want more and miss it when it’s absent.
All in all I feel so lucky to have the life which I have and the people who I love.
The photo at the top is my family shortly after our second daughter arrived a week before Christmas and it’s one of my favorite pictures because it’s our first as a proper family. Needless to say both my partner and I look a little bit rough due to exhaustion and in my case recovering from my second c-section.
I am very happy to be back after a year of inactivity. Sorry guys, I will do better. You see last year was a bit… We’ll go with bumpy. Postnatal depression kicked my butt to Hell and back, I am getting back to a place of happy enthusiasm for life and I am working hard to keep the depression at bay. Woooooo, yay existing!
Other reasons were the usual suspects that occur when you have a small baby: lack of time, exhaustion and trying to be the perfect mother. Thankfully I got over the perfection delusion pretty quickly because it really does make you feel like a failure. If something minor goes wrong then you are the worst mummy ever. Isn’t depression fun?
Now I am ‘just’ endeavoring to be a great mummy to my girls and hope that I don’t mess up too badly. I seem to be doing okay…. I hope.
I have started this blog as a means to express myself because most of my other hobbies include the use of two hands and the need for plenty of uninterrupted time to finish what I’ve started. Both of those conditions are hard to meet while taking care of a toddler and a small baby.
I am disabled and suffer from depression, epilepsy, shortened tendons and dyspraxia so I do find quite a few things challenging but I figure that if I mess up then at least I get to provide myself and others with plenty of free entertainment. I tend to be quite light-hearted and also may or may not have a mild spoon obsession because why the Hell not, right?
So now down to the business of what we will be doing here…
I shall share all my passions with you including but not limited to:
Parenting and all the joys that accompany it.
Mental health and general well-being.
Living with disabilities.
Recipes and cookery tips.
Reviews of: baby items, toys, cooking equipment, books and anything else I can lay my hands on.
Crafting lessons which will include; crochet, knitting and embroidery. With any luck I will eventually be adding in videos via YouTube.
History facts and random tit bits that people may find interesting.
I will be reading though the BBC’s 100 books to read before you die and actively encouraging people to join in. Come on! Be geeky with me, you might just fall in love with reading…
I’ve been experimenting with various beauty hacks and I will inform you of my findings. FYI: Homemade face scrub works really well and costs pennies to make.
Whatever else I can think of that might be of interest to people.
I will also be rewriting all my old posts because sleep deprivation doesn’t make for good work and I know that I can do better than I did before.
If you could subscribe to my blog and then like and follow me on Facebook and twitter that would be amazing. It would really help my tiny blog out and it means you can keep up with my shenanigans, recipes and random musings.
Thank you all so much for reading. This is going to be fun!
I will be using affiliate links throughout my site to earn a little money towards general mummy costs. Don’t worry they won’t cost you a penny. Basically I get a tiny commission if you follow a link and buy something. This won’t affect my opinions on any items, if they are complete rubbish then I will say so.
